A regional member-owned power distribution cooperative was looking for a way to modernize their system…
This manufacturer of steel billets requires that each billet be positively identified from the time it’s made until it’s delivered to their customer. Using Pannier MCL1800 high temperature bar code tags, the billets are labeled while still red-hot on the cooling bed. The tag includes the heat number, steel grade, and size information.
The tags remain on the billets until they are used in the next stage of processing at a steel rolling mill. The bar code tag remains on the billet until it’s reheated and rolled into a finished product, ensuring that there are no product mixups and the customer receives exactly the product they specified.
