A regional member-owned power distribution cooperative was looking for a way to modernize their system…
A manufacturer of industrial equipment places a serial number tag on each assembly for internal tracking. Serial numbers are unique to each assembly and the numbers must remain legible after the final powder coating operation.
Operators had been making tags manually using hand stamps to mark one character at a time. They were looking for a way to automate the process. Working with Pannier, they decided on a pneumatic marking press used with a numbering head. The numbering head allows the operator to either dial in a specific number or automatically index to the next number to eliminate duplicates.
The marking system includes an 8-ton press that can mark both aluminum and steel tags, a numbering head, a two-hand safety button kit for actuating the press, and a simple fixture to hold tags in the correct position during marking.
