A manufacturer of cast brake drums needed a marking system that could make deeper marks on their product to withstand all the production processes. They had been using a standard dot peen system to mark 2D Data Matrix codes and text on each drum. The marks looked good when applied, but the 2D codes could only be read 95% of the time after the heat treating and sand blasting processes.
They chose to switch to the ADP120160D Deep Marker, which features a large electrovalve and heavy duty carbide marking pin. The extra deep marks made by the Deep Marker remain legible heat treating and sandblasting, allowing this manufacturer to achieve a 100% code read rate.
