Rubber Hose In-Mold ID Tags

A manufacturer of custom hose assemblies needed a way to automate the creation of unique ID tags used to label rubber hoses. They had been using hand-held Dymo embosser to create tags, but his labor-intensive process was time consuming and prone to errors. They came to Pannier for an automated solution.

Pannier EmbossMax automated tag embossers create tags using a computerized marking pin. The information to be embossed can be typed in the data entry screen or downloaded from a host system. For this project, the manufacturer wanted to automatically download information from their MRP system for each job order to eliminate errors. In addition to tags with order information, tags are also made with the manufacturing date and operator codes for complete product traceability.

Once tags are made, they are attached to the rubber hoses and then cured for several hours. During this process the rubber fills into the tags’ characters, creating permanent raised marks on the hose. Tags can then be removed and reused if necessary.
